2018 Turn the Tables Luncheon Raises Over $13,000 for Camp for Kids

5U8A0954

The Junior Welfare League of Huntington ushered in spring in usual style on March 18, 2018 by welcoming over 150 local women at its annual “Turn the Tables” Spring Luncheon at the Huntington Country Club. Led by President Loveleen Lohia and chaired by co-Chairs Amal Kapen, Leslie Levchuck, and Gina Bonafazio, the annual Luncheon raises funds to support Camp for Kids, a long-running JWL program that sends many local children to camp every summer.

No detail is left unattended at the annual luncheon. Interior designer and co-chair Amal Kapen leads a team of expert designers who each curate their own table for the luncheon. In attendance this year were esteemed designers Amal Kapen Interiors, Elite Tent and Party Rental, Fovere Interiors, Joan O’Brien Interiors, Kim Radovich / Kim E. Courtney, Liz Cordeiro Events & Design, The Lewis Design Group, Noli Designs, The Rinfret Group, Rosanne Lombardo Designs, Thayer Woods Home, and TK Home. Each table was a delight to behold and thoroughly captured the beauty of the event. Guests marveled at each table before taking their seats for announcements and award presentations.

The annual Turn the Tables Spring Luncheon funds the JWL Camp for Kids program—and this year raised over $13,000 to help send low income and at risk local children from the Town of Huntington to camp annually to provide fulfilling and enriching summer experiences. In addition, the luncheon also bestows two honors upon the award recipients of the Youth in Philanthropy award and the Diane C. Cook Memorial Healthcare Scholarship. Niamh Condon, Huntington High School Class of 2018 was presented the Youth in Philanthropy award by Award Chair Andrea Boccard. Healthcare Scholarship Chair Dr. Inna Gellerman presented LIU-CW Post Nursing Student Jessica Alvaro with the Scholarship.

This year’s luncheon sold out before the first of March, with vendors, designers, and guests all vying for an opportunity to be a part of the excitement. The Junior Welfare League of Huntington thanks everyone for their involvement and welcomes the community to get to know more about upcoming JWL events and charitable programs. The Town of Huntington can expect to find the JWL involved in the upcoming Tulip Festival, working with Town Hall and local charitable programs to kick off the 2018 Backpacks for Success program, and finally at their annual evening social this summer or early fall.
